Charles DuPlessis

DuPLESSIS, CHARLES - Charles Hiram DuPlessis, husband of Aileen (Morrow) DuPlessis, passed away in Fredericton on October 15th, 2011. Born in Mactaquac, New Brunswick, on December 15th, 1917, he was the son of the late Harvey R. and Blanche (Moore) DuPlessis. Charles was a member of Saint Andrew’s Presbyterian Church where he served as Elder for many years. He was honoured to be the first Elder Emeritus of Saint Andrew’s. Charles was a Journeyman Electrician and owned and operated DuPlessis Electric Limited while working concurrently with the Fredericton Fire Department for 29 years where he retired as Platoon Chief. Charles was an avid reader, a lifelong learner and a hobby farmer. He enjoyed gardening, outdoor activities and people. He was a consummate family man and his greatest joy was spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Charles will always be remembered for his sense of humour and sharp wit. Charles is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Aileen, his seven children, John (Sharida), Brian (Suzanne), Nevin (Wendy), Neil (Dorothy), Paul, Ellen (Andrew West) and Andrew (Stephanie), his grandchildren, Debbie, Sean, Peter, Beth, Mary-Lee, Emily, Jessica, Erin, Andrea, Charles, Cameron, Adam, Sarah, Andy, Eric, Danielle and Nicole; nine great-grandchildren; his brothers Frank, Dale and David and his sisters Pauline Armstrong, Hazel Phillips, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his grandson Mark Andrew, brothers Fred, Johnson, Paul, Lloyd, Bruce and sisters Marion and Helen.
The family will receive visitors at McAdam's Funeral Home, 160 York Street, Fredericton on Tuesday, October 18th, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral service will take place at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, October 19th, 2011 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Doug Blaikie officiating. Interment will take place in the Mactaquac Baptist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Andrew’s Presbyterian Church or the charity of donor’s choice.
