HéBERT, JOSEPH ROLAND “ROLY” - At the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, Fredericton Joseph Roland “Roly” Hébert passed away on Monday, October 17, 2011 at the age of 86. Born in Edmunston, NB he was a son of the late John and Julie (Pickard) Hébert. Roly was a member of the Canadian Armed Forces 2RCR who served in WWII, the Korean Conflict and was part of the UN Emergency Forces in Cyprus. During his military service he received many commendations, the France & Germany Star, War Medal 1939-45, Korea Medal, United Nations Service Medal, UN Emergency Force Medal and Canadian Forces Decoration and Clasp. Roly was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4, a past member of the Elks Club, the Air Force Club and a life-long member of the Maritime Junior Ranks Club, CFB Gagetown. He was an avid crib player. He is survived by his children Wendy (John Hoël) of Fredericton, Brian (Sue Saunders) of Hay River, NWT, Robin Hébert of Edmonton, AB and Patrick Hébert of Red Deer, AB; grandchildren Stacey Thornton and Nick Logan of Fredericton, Zyré and Arwen Hébert, Calin, Arielle and Eveleen Hébert all of Alberta; great grandchildren MacKenzie Logan and Cooper Thornton of Fredericton, Aaron and Cian Fensky, Meriwyn Aubrey- Hébert all of Alberta; one sister Evelyn LaBrie of Edmunston, NB; nieces and nephews; several very close friends.
The family will receive condolences at Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 from 7 to 9 P.M. A funeral service will be held Thursday, October 20 at 4:00 P.M. at Bishop’s Funeral Home with Father Jack Dolan officiating. A legion tribute will be held Wednesday evening at 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4.
