EMBLETON, ROBERTA JANE - The passing of Roberta J. Embleton of Fredericton and formerly of Bear Island, NB occurred October 19, 2011 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Roberta was born on December 14, 1923 at Keswick Ridge, NB, a daughter of the late Elbridge and Jane (Pugh) Gilmore. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Before her marriage to Gordon Embleton, she was a telephone operator at the Keswick exchange. Following her marriage in 1946 she and Gordon both worked on the family farm at Bear Island. Roberta was Anglican by faith and devoted many hours to church work and charity. She was a life member of the Anglican Church Women. Roberta is survived and will be greatly missed by her daughter, Elaine Embleton, Fredericton, NB and son Beverly Embleton (Brenda), Fredericton, NB, granddaughter, Carolyn Stevenson (Matthew) and their children, Julia, Shane and Wesley of Saint John, NB, granddaughter, Joanne Perkins (Leigh), Zealand, NB and granddaughter Laura Embleton, Fredericton, NB; a sister-in-law, Ruth Gilmore, Keswick Ridge, NB; a brother-in-law, Perley Embleton (Bobbie), Fredericton, NB; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband in 2009, her brothers, Owen and William Gilmore and her sisters, Alice Grant, Gertrude Sargent, Helen Tippett, Phyllis MacDonald, Margaret Hall and Mary Phillips.
Visitation will be held at Flewelling Funeral Home, 585 Otis Drive, Nackawic, NB on Friday evening from 5 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held from the funeral home chapel on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 2 p.m. with Rev’d Fr. Kevin Borthwick officiating. Interment will follow in Bear Island Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Bear Island Community Hall. For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Roberta, the family has suggested the Arthritis Society or the Bear Island Cemetery.
