Leo Edmund Duguay
DUGUAY, Leo Edmund – Truro. Long time Truro resident Leo Duguay passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, October 18, 2011, at The Mira Long Term Care Centre, Truro. Born Feburary 27, 1912, in Shemogue (Port Elgin), New Brunswick, he was the third of ten children of the late Edmond and Annie (Donnelle) Duguay. Leo was a member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church for over seven decades where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He barbered at several locations in Truro for over fifty years and was a past member of Nova Scotia Rifle Association, Truro Curling Club and Canadian Order of Foresters. He loved his car trips, camera, garden and took great pride in his property at 172 King Street. Leo is survived by his children, Frank (Estelle), Stratford, Prince Edward Island; Dan (Ruby), Anne Marie, Truro; Tom, Toronto, Ontario; grandchildren, Sonya, Kathleen, Trevor, Carolyn, Toban, Dane; great grandchildren, Abby, Jack, Halle, Mia, Clara, Ross, Kayla. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Sarah “Sadie” McNeil (1982). Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Leo’s family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m., Friday, October 21, 2011. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m., Saturday, October 22, 2011, in Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 669 Prince Street, Truro, Father Dariusz Miskowicz officiating. Interment in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, 125 Robie Street, Truro. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Leo’s memory to a charity of choice are welcomed.
