With heavy hearts we must announce the passing of our father, grandfather and father-in-law, Cliff Mills. He was reunited with the love of his life, Jackie on Thursday morning, Oct. 20, 2011, at the Glace Bay Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Born in Glace Bay, Cliff was the son of the late Clifford George, Sr. and Christena (Fergueson) Mills.
He was employed with Canada Post as a letter carrier from 1961-1993. Prior to Canada Post he was employed as a meat cutter for several different grocery stores in Glace Bay and Halifax. Cliff enjoyed working in his garage or backyard on old cars and tinkering around with just about anything that came across his work bench. In his earlier years he played basketball for the Glace Bay High School in the 40s. He also enjoyed bowling. We will miss his warped sense of humor. He could turn anything into a laugh.
Cliff will be sadly missed by his loving daughters, Betty (Blair) Boutilier, Chris, Sylvia; and cherished granddaughter, Sara (Deryk).
Cliff was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Besides his parents, Cliff was predeceased by his beloved wife, Jacqueline ‘Jackie’ Patricia (Bennett) and brother, John Alfred.
Visitation for Cliff will be held Saturday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Shirley Murdock officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney.
