Minnie Best
Passed peacefully away at Bonnews Lodge, Badger's Quay on Monday, October 17,2011 Minnie Chatfield Best(nee Mercer) age 91 years of Wesleyville. Minnie was born at Safe Harbour on March 2, 1920 to the late Bethelem and Jane Mercer. She is predeceased by her husband Robert Best(2003); daughter Minnie Pearl; brother Samuel Mercer; granddaughter Kelly Stagg; sister Jessie Feltham; son-in-law Walter Scott and grandson-in-law Tyler MacEwan. Minnie was a loving mother to her son Job(Bernice) of Wesleyville; daughters Anne Scott of Frankville, NS., Goldie Stagg(Ernest) of Lumsden and Marilyn Goodyear(Maxwell) of Lumsden; she was a caring and generous grandmother to her grandchildren Kimberly Abbott(Brent) of Pound Cove, Miranda Dohaney(Edward) of Gander; Karen Fougere(Steven) of Frankville, NS., Sonia Best(Jeff) of Wesleyville; Robert Scott(Lori) of Tracadie, NS., Claudia MacEwan of Bay Roberts; Tammy White(Steven) of Valleyfield; Justin Stagg(Kay) of Lumsden; Rochelle Gary(Todd) of Lumsden; Jenna Goodyear of St. John's and Jenelle Goodyear(Brant) of St. John's; a very special "big nan" to her great-grandchildren Holly Batten, Ashley Hibbs, Ethan Dohaney, Billy Scott, Curtis Scott, Nicholas Mullett, Madison Dohaney, Chelsea Fougere, Zachary Dunn, Russell Fougere, Andrew Abbott, Emma MacEwan, Shawn Stagg, Jackson MacEwan, Logan White, Carter Gray and Caiden Gray; great-great-grandmother to Alexander Batten and Brooklyn Batten; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service took place at Jubilee United Church, Wesleyville on Thursday, October 20, 2011 with Rev. Brian Hannon officiating, assisted by Rev. Lorne Bungay and Lieutenants Brent and Melissa Haas. Interment followed at The United Church Cemetery, Wesleyville. Donations in her memory may be made to Jubilee United Church, Wesleyville.
