Laurie Cormier

CORMIER, LAURIE - Laurie Joseph Cormier, 87, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont University Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born September 22, 1924 in Cocagne, he was the son of the late Clorice and Olive (Goguen) Cormier. He was employed at International Nickel Co. in Sudbury, ON with 31 years service prior to his retirement. A man with a big heart, Laurie was always ready to help others. For the past fifteen years, he and his wife resided in Saint-Antoine and Moncton. He was also a member of the Assumption Golden Age Club. He is survived by his beloved wife, Jeanne (née Melanson); two sisters: Cécile Allain (late Fidèle) of Saint-Antoine and Maria Dollard (late Edgar) of Moncton; one brother: Eric (Alice) of Saint-Antoine; many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by two sisters: Ida and Christine; four brothers: Joseph, Livain, Désiré and Irois.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral Home, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900). Visiting hours on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. until time of departure (6:45 p.m.). The funeral mass will be celebrated at St-Louis-de-France R.C. Church, 5 Pleasant Street, Moncton, on Tuesday, October 25 at 7 p.m. Interment will be in Saint-Antoine. In memory of Laurie, a contribution to the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital Foundation (Cardiology) or masses would be appreciated. www.frenettefuneralhome.com
