Florence May MacKinnon, 93, passed away Friday, Oct. 21, 2011, at the Cove Guest Home, Sydney.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Effie (Hanson) Lund.
Florence was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church. She volunteered at Breton Bay Nursing Home and Brookshaven Hall, Dutch Brook.
Florence is survived by a daughter, Lorraine (John) MacDonald, Mulgrave; sons, Robert (Hazel), Newfoundland, and George (Adele), Port Morien; sisters, Margaret Reid, Dutch Brook, Connie Ireland, Ontario and Joyce Keigan, Dutch Brook; brothers, Donnie (Shirley), Sydney and Jimmy (Evelyn), Dutch Brook; grandchildren, Harvey (Barb) MacKinnon, Port Hastings, Bernadette Warren, Sydney, Carrie MacKinnon-Wilson, Port Morien, Louise (Neil Johanson) Hawco, Red Deer and great-grandchildren, Dylan MacKinnon, Calgary, Jade MacKinnon, Port Hastings, Emily Warren, Sydney, Gregory Warren, Sydney, Nichole Wilson, Port Morien, Justin Hawco, Red Deer. Also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Florence was predeceased by her husband, John Douglas and brothers, William, Eddie, Gerald, Earl and John, and a grandson, Robbie MacKinnon.
Visitation will be held at Sydney Memorial Chapel, Monday, Oct. 24, 2011, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place Tuesday 2 p.m. at Bethel Presbyterian Church with Rev. Robert Lyle officiating. Interment in Oakfield Cemetery.
