Peacefully at the Atlantic Baptist Nursing Home on Friday, October 21, 2011, of Mrs. Gertrude Helena (Gertie) Roach-McQuaid (nee Watts), formerly of Grand Tracadie, in her 95th year.
She was the last surviving member of her family of 11. Beloved mother of Edward (Phyllis) McQuaid, Phyllis (Brian) Lewis, Evelyn (Ken) Wolfe, Pearle (Brian) McQuaid, Allan McQuaid and Theresa (Mike) Avery. Gertie is also lovingly remembered by 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and her sister-in-law Blanche MacDonald. She was predeceased by her husbands Basil McQuaid, John Roach and her sons Peter and Gary McQuaid.
Resting at the Hennessey Funeral Home until 9:30 on Monday, then transferred to St. Michael’s Church, Corran Ban, for funeral mass at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Michael’s Parish Cemetery.
