Passed peacefully away on Friday, October 21, 2011, at the age of 88 years. Predeceased by husband Arthur (1980); son Ian (2010); parents Gordon and Helen (nee Kirkpatrick); sisters: Doris Parsons and Elizabeth Marshall and brothers: Freddy, Duncan and John. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are son Spencer (Bonnie); daughter Brenda Menchions (Trevor); grandchildren: Scott, Jennifer, Kelly and Josh; brothers: Dave (Eileen – deceased), George (Ruby), Walter (Frances), Cecil (Bridie); sister Mary Murphy; sister-in-law Lillian Williams; special niece Pearl Brown and life-long friend Jean Moores. Also leaving to mourn are many other relatives and friends, especially her friends at Meadow Creek Retirement Centre where “Maggie” was so wonderfully cared for during the past 19 months. She was a loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, with a big heart and wonderful sense-of-humour. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Special thanks to the nurses and doctors of the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Clinic as well as the Palliative Care Unit of the Dr. Leonard A. Miller Centre for their care and compassion. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Ave. on Sunday and Monday from 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral service will be held from Barrett’s Chapel on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road.
