Peacefully at home with his loving family at his side on Monday, Oct. 24, 2011, of Bennett Charles Dawson of Albany, age 80 years. Loving husband of Erma (nee MacWilliams) Dawson. Dear father of Alan (Doris), Brian (Cindy), Blair (Pam), Steven, Sterling, Audra (Kevin) McCarville, Ruth, and daughters-in-law Lorna Dawson and Elaine (Dawson) DesRoches. Grandfather of 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also survived by sisters Jennie Matthews, Blanche Cairns, Georgina (James) Paynter, Margaret (Richard) Newsome, Bertie (Sterling) Thompson, Mary (Doug) Howatt, Helen (Delbert) Smith, and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, sons Dale and Scott Dawson, granddaughter Miranda McCarville, sisters Mildred Harvey and Louise Thomson, brothers James and Harvey Dawson, and brothers-in-law Charles Thomson, Hillus Cairns, Ralph Harvey and Alvin Matthews. Resting at the Dawson Funeral Home, Crapaud, until Friday, Oct. 28, then to North Tryon Presbyterian Church for funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment in Cape Traverse Free Church of Scotland Cemetery. Visiting hours on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. If so desired, memorial donations to the Cape Traverse Church of Scotland Cemetery Fund, North Tryon Presbyterian Church Building Fund, or P.E.I. Lung Association would be appreciated.
