The angels have taken our mother home on Monday, Oct. 26, 2009, at MacGillivray Guest Home.
Mary Louise was born on Jan. 9, 1926, in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth ‘Betty’ (Porteous) Gosman.
Our mother dedicated her life to raising her 13 children, exhausting her days and nights, running a household and keeping track of us all. She enjoyed all the little things in life, walks in the park with her grandchildren, a good cup of tea, friendly conversation on the phone with dear friends, Mary and Emily, she loved car rides and spending time with her children and grandchildren . . . Thank you mom.
She is survived by her brother, David Gosman, Quebec; her 13 children, Mary Merriam (Adrian), New Waterford, Malcolm (Sally), Sydney, Joseph (Linda), Halifax, Rose Whalen (Joseph), Ontario, Robert (Jeannette), Dartmouth, Kenny (Valerie), Eastern Passage, Veronica MacDougall (Gerald), Sydney, Billy (Patricia), Sydney, Sharon (Darrell) MacDonald, Lawrencetown, George (Marlene), Sydney, Gordon (June), Sydney, Allan (Wanda), Sydney, Martin (Trudy), New Glasgow; 29 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Mary Louise was predeceased by her husband, Malcolm Joseph ‘Sam’ Christie.
A special thanks to the MacGillivray Guest Home and staff for their many years of kindness and care and to Fr. Rankin for his prayers, they meant a great deal to us.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009, at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A service will be held Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, at 11 a.m. with Fr. Norman MacPhee to celebrate her life in the funeral home chapel.
