Marybelle Moore, 84 of Halifax, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2009, in Parkland Estates.
Born in Sydney Mines, she was the daughter of the late Roderick and Elizabeth (Ives) Ferguson.
Mary will be forever missed by her daughters, Anne Schmidt, Ottawa and Catherine (Norman) Newell of Herring Cove and fondly remembered by her grandchildren, Stephen (Jennifer) Schmidt, Ottawa, Christopher and Andrew Newell, Herring Cove and Nicholas and Elizabeth Schmidt, Ottawa. Also left to mourn are Mary’s sisters, Florence Johns, Alice (George) Beckwith; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mary was predeceased by her husband, Clarence and her sisters, Margaret Luker and Katherine Jackson.
Mary graduated from teacher’s college in Truro and earned a bachelor’s degree from St. Mary’s University. She pursued her life long passion of teaching up until her retirement from Flemming Tower Elementary School. She was a member of Bethany United Church and the Waegwoltic Club in Halifax.
Mary will be greatly missed by all those fortunate to have been part of her life.
Cremation has taken place. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so on Friday, Oct. 30, 2009 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at J.A. Snow’s Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, from where a funeral service will follow on Monday, Nov. 2, 2009 at 11 a.m. at St. Columbus United Church in Leitches Creek, Cape Breton with burial immediately following.
Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia or a charity of your choice.
