Wilhelmina (Mia) Van Kroonenburg
Van Kroonenburg, Wilhelmina (Mia) – 80. It is with great sadness we announce the death of Mia Van Kroonenburg, who passed away peacefully on October 30th, 2011. Mia emigrated from Holland with her husband Kees in 1953. They started their new life in East Bay, Cape Breton, eventually settling in North River, Truro. Mia loved travelling and especially driving with Kees through Nova Scotia. She was fortunate to visit Holland often and see her beloved twin sister, Diny. Mia was an avid collector of coins, stamps and hummels, as well as Russian nesting dolls. She kept busy with making quilts for her family and knitting for her grandchildren. Besides her husband Kees, she is survived by her sons John (Debbie), Halifax; Adrian (Debbie), Calgary; Leo (Donna), Truro; and daughter Diane, Calgary. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren, and one great grandchild, as well as her twin sister Diny, sister Leen and brother Toon. The family would like to thank the staff of Debert Court Nursing Home for the excellent care Mia received this past year. Their kindness was greatly appreciated. Visitation will be held at Mattatall-Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, from 7-9pm on Wednesday, November 2nd. Funeral service will be Thursday, November 3rd at Immaculate Conception Church at 11:00 am with burial to follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Truro.
