Beatrice Mary D’Orsay, 92, formerly of Sydney Mines, but also lived in Springhill, Boularderie, Halifax, and Sydney River, passed away peacefully on Oct. 30, 2011, at the Cove Guest Home, Sydney.
Born in 1919 in Sydney Mines, she was the daughter of the late William and Annie (Finney) Evans.
After many years working in the jewelry department of Woolco Department Store, both in Sydney River and Halifax, Bea retired to Boulardarie where she and her husband, John, spent many happy years.
She treasured her family and particularly enjoyed time spent at family gatherings.
Bea is survived by her children, Glen D’Orsay, Coxheath, Jack (Linda) D’Orsay, Coxheath, Elizabeth (Ken) Ferguson, Springhill, Lorne (Louise) D’Orsay, Boulardarie, and Cathy (Mike) Devine, Debert; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Loraine Evans, Windsor, Ont.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband of 54 years, John, brothers, Jim (Bernie), Bill (Bea) and David Evans and daughter-in-law, Barb D’Orsay.
Visitation for the late Mrs. D’Orsay will be held from 7-9 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011, from Fillmore & Whitman Funeral Home, Sydney Mines. Funeral service will take place at 11 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011, from Trinity Anglican Church, Sydney Mines, with Rev. Peter Rafuse officiating. Interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney.
