TATTRIE (Blades), Elsie Pauline - 76, Central North River. It is with great sadness we announce that Elsie passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Wednesday, October 28, 2009, in Colchester Regional Hospital. Born June 2, 1933, in Truro, she was a daughter of the late Bill and Bessie (MacFarlane) Blades. Elsie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who had a great love for all. In her earlier years, she worked at the Five and Dime, Carl’s Lunch and Sam’s Lunch. She was a past member of the North River Ladies Auxiliary. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Elsie is survived by her children, Wayne, Randy, Billy (Rose), Mark (Angela), Velvet (Jimmy) Prest, Dana, Kathy (Joey) Brenton, Susan (Joe) Atkinson, Michelle (Mike) Harper; 14 grandchildren; brother-in-law, Carl Tattrie; sisters-in-law, Doreen Gorman, Esther MacFarlane, brothers-in-law, Floyd (Marguerite) Tattrie, Elroy (Pat) Tattrie, Sterling (Vera) Tattrie; many, many nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Murray Irving Tattrie (September 23, 2009); sisters, Winnie Chapman, Lill MacLean, Opal Reade, Helen Tattrie; one brother in infancy; sisters-in-law, Marguerite Green, Lola Tattrie; brothers-in-law, Morris Green, Harry Gorman, Chesley MacFarlane, Murray MacLean, Ralph Reade, Sid Chapman; family friend, Clarence “Red†MacPhail. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Elsie’s family will receive friends from 7-9 pm Friday, October 30, 2009 and where the funeral service will be held 2:30 pm, Sunday, November 1, 2009, Reverend David Lutes officiating. Reception will follow. Interment in Blackmore Memorial Cemetery, Upper North River. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Elsie’s memory to Parkinson Society – Maritime Region or a charity of choice are welcomed.
