Margaret Louise 'Margie' MacNeil
Lieu de naissance : SYDNEY, Nouvelle Ecosse, Canada
Lieu de décès : SYDNEY, Nouvelle Ecosse, Canada
Date de décès : 31 octobre 2011
With broken hearts we announce the passing of our dear mother, sister, grandmother on Monday, Oct. 31, 2011, at home surrounded by her three children.
Margie lived on Kings Road with her daughter and loving caregiver Nancy, who was assisted by Sheri Trask whom Mom thought of as her third daughter.
Margie was born in Sydney, the daughter of the late Margaret Jane ‘Jenny’ and Michael J. MacNeil.
Growing up on Davenport Road, she was always so proud of being ‘An Ashby Girl’. As a young girl she worked at Crowells. In 1946 she married Archie ‘Dan Y.’ MacNeil and chose to stay at home and raise her family. God couldn’t have blessed us with a more loving, supportive, gentle and kind mother. She met each day with a smile and could always find something to make her laugh. Although gentle she showed great strength when needed, as her grandsons so often commented “That Nanny is a Trooper.”
A member of St. Anthony Daniel parish, Mom got great strength from her relationship with God (He’ll be giving her the hugs now.)
She is survived by son Kevin, Sydney; daughters, Jane, Halifax, Nancy, at home; grandsons, Donald Kevin (wife Stacey Quinlan), Michael Archie (girlfriend Jasmine MacDonald), Halifax; sisters, Mary MacDonald, Aggie Johnson, both of Sydney; brother, Bernie MacNeil, Windsor, Ont.; and by many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Archie ‘Dan Y.’, brother, Arthur MacNeil, sister, Helen Bates and daughter-in-law, Christena (MacDonald) MacNeil.
Visitation for Mrs. MacNeil will take place at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony Daniel Church with Rev. Donald MacGillivary officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
