Mailman, Vernon- 76, Brookfield – a very gentle, kind-hearted soul died on November 1, 2011 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. He was born in Kentville. He spent his younger years farming and was employed by Brookfield Lumber for over 20 years. Vernon lived a very simple, quiet life and was greatly cared for by his wife until the end. His leisure times were spent helping his wife with her greenhouse, the Farmer’s Market and attending his beloved pets. He also enjoyed bluegrass, country music and family gatherings. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Leonida; adopted children, Cherry and Mark, Alberta; Eliazer (Roxanne), Philippines and brand new grandson, Elixhanndre A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 5 at 2 pm in Knox United Church, Brookfield with Rev. Larry Harrison officiating. Interment in Westside Cemetery, Carter Road, Brookfield. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
