Daye, Percy Dexter – 83, Truro passed away November 2, 2011 in Vimy Court Home For Special Care, Bible Hill surrounded by his loving family. Born in Kemptown, he was a son of the late Neil and Thelma (Fields) Daye. He was a truck driver for many years. He was a member of the Salmon River Fire Brigade and worked there as a bartender for over 20 years. He was also a member of the Truro Boys Club in his earlier days. Percy loved his garden, especially planting flowers. He also enjoyed fishing. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Mary (Harrington); daughters, Velma (Allen) Tattrie, Hilden, Rosemary Daye (Doran), St. Thomas, ON, Virginia Simpson, Dartmouth, Donna (Dave) Hunter, Amherst, Dawn (Sam) Rafuse, Murray Siding; sons, James (Verna), Clarence “Bucky” (Janie), Robert (Shelley), all of Bible Hill; 20 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson; brothers, Neil, Scotsburn, William, Debert; sisters, Beulah, Mayna, Theresa, all of Ontario. He was predeceased by brother, George. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 5 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro. A Salmon River Fire Brigade Tribute Service will be held Sunday, November 6 at 2 pm followed immediately by a memorial service both in Salmon River Fire Hall with Rev. Larry Harrison officiating.
