MCLOUGHLIN, DONALD MATHEW - Donald Mathew McLoughlin, loving husband of Roberta (Russell) McLoughlin of Rothesay, passed away on Friday, November 4, 2011 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1940 in Birkenhead, England he was the son of the late Mathew and Eleanor (Murphy) McLoughlin. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his sister Maureen Pugh. Don worked for the ILA Local 273 for many years, and he was a member of the Hampton Golf Club. He also enjoyed carpentry and spending time with his family. In addition to his loving wife Bobbie, Don is survived and will be missed by his son Shay McLoughlin (Cindy) of Saint John; daughter Shonagh McLoughlin (Geoff Versteeg) of London, England; cherished grandson Declan; brothers David McLoughlin (Kathy) of Birkenhead, England and Robert McLoughlin (Doreen) of Highworth, England; sister Geraldine Leach of Greasby, England; brothers-in-law Syd Pugh of Birkenhead, England and Glen Russell (Carol) of Ottawa, ON; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank all the friends who visited the hospital to share their smiles and memories during Don’s last days, and the palliative care team of the Saint John Regional for their care and attention.
In keeping with Don’s wishes there will be no visitations or funeral service. Interment will take place in England at a later date. Donations in memory of Don made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
