With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Linda Johann Krause, age 66, on October 26, 2011, at the Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, SK. Linda will be sadly missed by her husband, Art; two daughters, Vicki and Pamela (Kevin Ulm); and favorite grandson, Jesse. She will also be lovingly remembered by Betsy Schmidt (sister); Johnny & Kay Froese (brother); Darlene & Lester Olfert (sister); as well as her nieces and nephews. Linda was predeceased by twin infant sons, Michael and Arthur Krause (April 16, 1972); parents, John Froese (May 13, 1986) and Elisabeth Froese (Feb. 26, 1995); brother, Stanley Froese (March 2, 1968); and nephew, Danny Olfert (June 11, 1990). Linda was born in Swift Current, SK on April 6, 1945, and was raised on a farm near the small community of Schoenfeld. At a young age she accepted Christ into her heart and was later baptized at Rhineland church. On a blind date set up through friends, Linda met her husband and they were married in Swift Current on May 28, 1966, and then lived in Foam Lake, SK where first daughter Vicki was born. The family then moved to Northern Manitoba where second daughter Pamela was born in Lynn Lake, MB. In the winter of 1975, the family moved to a small acreage on the airport road which was purchased from Linda’s parents. This was the start of Linda’s gardening and baking career. She was well known for her vegetables and many people were able to benefit from the hard work and the many hours she spent in the garden. She loved selling her baking and vegetables at the Swift Current Farmers Market. In the winter season, she loved to sit and puzzle with her daughters and listen to her favorite music. She would also pour over her seed magazines and patiently wait for Spring to arrive so that she could get back in the garden. Linda was a member of the Fairview Bible Church where she was on the church board as treasurer, played piano and sung in the choir. She had very special friends in her church family. Linda was kind and loving and was always thinking of ways to help others. She loved to make homemade soup and buns and take them to someone who was in need of comfort. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was always making delicious meals. In December of 2008, Linda’s journey with breast cancer began. She was very brave and strong and God’s grace sustained her. As daughters, we cherish the time spent with Mom on the many trips to Regina for chemotherapy and Doctor appointments. In October of 2009, she finished her treatments and was able to get back to her favorite activities once again until the summer of 2011, when her health failed. The way Linda lived her life was her testimony. She will be remembered as being patient, gentle and kind, sensitive and soft-spoken, and strong in her faith. We will miss you more than words can express.
The Celebration of Life Service was held on Monday, October 31, 2011, at 2:00 pm from the Church of the Open Bible, Swift Current, SK with Pastor David Pollard officiating. The musicians for the service were Sandra Rempel and Henry Thiessen. “Standing on the Promises” and “It Is Well With My Soul” were sung by the congregation under the direction of Lester Olfert. Tributes were shared by the Froese Siblings, Arlene McKenzie and by the Daughters & Grandson in a Photo Tribute. Special music was brought by Henry Thiessen singing, “In the Garden”. The ushers in the church were David Fehr and Dwayne Gietz. The Private Family Interment Service was held at the Hillcrest Cemetery, Swift Current, SK with the following serving as pallbearers, Jesse Krause, Kevin Ulm, Kelli Sather, Kevin Froese, Johnny Froese and Lyndon Olfert. In memory of Linda Krause, donations made to the Fairview Bible Church or to the Charity of the Donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
