RIVERTON – Peter Prokaska, 90 of the Valley View Villa, Riverton, Pictou County, died November 3, 2011 in the Villa.
Born August 10, 1921, in Brandon, Manitoba, he was a son of the late Alexander and Agnes (Hetman) Prokaska.
Peter will be missed by his immediate family in Ontario: his four daughters: Lee (Gary), Jane, Anne (Lui) and Beth and their mother Lorna. He was a very special and proud Grandpa to Seana, Heather, Fiona and Andrea. Peter will be missed by his extended family of nieces and nephews. He was a special uncle to Beverly (Prokaska) MacKay and her husband Wilfred of New Glasgow, NS, and their children and grandchildren.
Predeceased by his parents, five sisters and one brother.
Peter was a veteran of the Second World War and a graduate of Brandon College (now Brandon University). He had a long career with Du Pont of Canada, then reinvented himself at Metropolitan Life. Peter was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion and Abercrombie Country Club and he was Past Master, Western Star Lodge #50 Westville, past High Priest, St. John Chapter #8 Royal Arch Masons, past Preceptor, Knights of the Order of the Templar Malta Preceptory No. 27 and past President Noble of the Mystic Shrine Philae Shriners Pictou Club.
His self-taught skill on the harmonica will be missed by all those who have been entertained by his music over the years.

Cremation has taken place. The date for a memorial service has not yet been chosen.
