It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Emily Charlene DiFlavio on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, with her family at her side, after a long battle with cancer.
Charlene was born in Blackett’s Lake and was the daughter of the late Charles and Emily (Hynes) Crane.
Charlene was well-respected and well-loved by many co-workers, friends and family members. She was known as someone you could talk to, whether it was about a problem, a concern, or if you just wanted to chat. She was also known for her love of bingo, shopping and a well made Tim Hortons coffee.
Left to mourn their loss are her loving husband, Luke, son, Charles (Shelly), daughter, Gena and grandson, Luca. Also surviving are her sisters, Linda (David) MacInnis and Shirley (Donald) Lamson; brothers, Gordon Crane, Manitoba, and Kenneth Crane, British Columbia; and her many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Sunday, Nov. 6 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at St. Alban’s Anglican Church on Monday at 2 p.m., with Archdeacon Brenda Drake officiating. Interment in Hardwood Hill Cemetery.
A special thank you goes out to all the doctors and nurses that took such wonderful care of Charlene while she fought her battle.
