CHURCHILL, Edna Bernice – 80, formerly of Port Maitland, Yarmouth Co., passed away peacefully on October 29, 2011, at Villa St. Joseph du-Lac. Born September 10, 1931, in Port Maitland, she was a daughter of the late Ira and Laura (Spinney) Smith. Edna was a member of Bayview Baptist Church in Port Maitland. Edna loved to bake, and her passion for baking eventually led to starting her own bakery. She also enjoyed travelling, and has travelled to many destinations around the globe. She is survived by husband of 61 years, Jack; daughters, Ruth (Bernie) Hurlburt, Port Maitland; Esther (Joseph Harold) Muise, Yarmouth; Mary (Bill) Sollows, PortMaitland; sons, John (Susan), Port Alberni, B.C.; Thomas “Tom”,Yarmouth; Mark, Port Maitland; brother, Bernard (Mildred) Smith, Port Maitland; sister, Dorothy Ellis, Port Maitland; as well as six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brother, Leland Smith. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Sweeny’s Funeral Home & Crematorium, Yarmouth. A memorial service was held Thursday, November 3 at 2 p.m. from Bayview Baptist Church with Rev. Scott MacDonald officiating. Interment followed in Port Maitland Beaver River Cemetery. Family flowers only, please. Donations in Edna’s memory may be made to Villa St. Joseph du-Lac, Yarmouth Hospital Foundation or to a charity of your choice. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Yarmouth Regional Hospital, staff at Villa St. Joseph du-Lac and to Dr. Julie Chandler for their kind and compassionate care.
