It is with broken hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of Sam Vardy on Monday, Nov. 7, 2011, at the Harbourstone Enhanced Care Facility, Sydney.
Born in Fox Island, N.L., he was the son of the late George and Hannah (Hayman) Vardy.
Sam was a fisherman by trade. He fished on the dragger boats for many years.
He enjoyed life to the fullest and will be greatly missed.
He was a member of Stella Maris parish, Louisbourg.
Sam is survived by is wife, Dorothy (MacKeigan); daughter, Cavelle Vardy (Frankie), Louisbourg; sons, Curtis Vardy, Calgary, Dexter Vardy, New Waterford; one precious granddaughter, Alexis; sister, Minnie Hayman, Louisbourg; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Florence, brothers, Stan, Abe and Louis in infancy.
The family would like to thank the staff of Harbourstone MacDougall’s Court for their care and compassion and especially Gordie in the kitchen.
Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011, at Stella Maris Cemetery, Louisbourg.
