Murdock James Capstick, 67, of North Sydney, and formerly of Sydney Mines passed away at home Monday, November 7, 2011.
Born in Sydney Mines on March 28, 1944, he was the son of the late Peter and Rachel (Donovan) Capstick.
Murdock worked for many years with the Dept. of Highways in Sydney River, before his early retirement in 1986, due to illness.
Left to mourn his passing is his wife of 46 years, Sheila (Parks) Capstick; and his four children, Ernie, Alberta, Pat (Lorena), Florence, Della Rendell, Alberta, and Mary (Adam) Stanley, Coxheath; eight grandchildren, Ernie Capstick, Robbie Rendell, M.J. Capstick, Kayla Capstick, Nikki Rendell, Becca Rendell, Joan-Catherine Capstick and Sara Stanley. He is also survived by his sisters Mary MacLennan, Ontario, Helen (Gerald) Serroul, and Nina Thomas, of Sydney Mines; many nieces and nephews, and his special niece Janie (Frank) MacPhail, Baddeck.
In keeping with Murdock’s wishes, there will be no visitation. His body will be donated to Medical Science at Dalhousie University.
A memorial Mass to celebrate the life of Murdock Capstick will be held in Immaculate Conception Church, Convent St., Sydney Mines, on Thursday, November 10, 2011, at 2:30 p.m. , with Fr. Thomas John officiating. A reception will be held in the Centennial Room, following the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Murdock’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
