Mary Louise Munro (nee Macey)

Mary Louise Munro (nee Macey)

Mary "Louise" Munro (nee Macey)
Passed away Friday, November 4, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital, Sechelt, BC, at the age of 87. Born in Haney (Maple Ridge) on July 8, 1924. Louise was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Harry Robert Munro (January, 2010). Louise was the only daughter to Lillian and Ernie Macey and oldest sister to her three brothers, Don (Dot), Bob (Lois) and Roy (Penny).
Louise married and had four children in Richmond BC: Ian (Lynne), Sheila, Brian (Christine) and Leisa (Roland). She will be greatly missed by her children and her nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; brothers Roy and Don, sister-in-law Darlene (Nick) and niece, Karin (George).
In 1966, Louise and her young family moved to Pender Harbour and began a long, hard-working venture to raise and support the family. Louise would work long hours as a chambermaid at the resort in Madeira Park, pick salal during inclement weather (very hard on the hands) and do sewing, knitting, smocking and various crafts. She eventually gravitated to the fine art and talent of quilting, which became her signature. Louise spent her retirement years as a member of the Pender Harbour Piece Makers Quilting Group, and it is here that she met her dear friends. She enjoyed their company, workshops, lunches, dinners and annual excursions that took her away from home where she became a social butterfly.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Mary's Hospital and especially Dr. Robinson, her family doctor for many years.
There will be no service by request. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation, in remembrance of Louise, to the charity of your choice.
