It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lou Iverson at the age of 78.
He leaves behind his wife Anne of 53 years. His son Lou (Vicki) Iverson, grandchildren Jordan & Erin. His daughter Diane (Bill) Atkinson, grandchildren Asha & Paige. His twin sister MaryAnn (Wally) Williams and many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents Jana & Richter Iverson and brother Roy Iverson.
Lou was born and raised in Vancouver, BC. As a teenager he went commercial fishing with his father along the Pacific Coast and the Gulf of Alaska. In the late fifties he became a bush pilot and began his career flying into remote villages in northern Saskatchewan. In 1960 he brought his family to Kamloops where he worked for Pacific Western Airlines until the base closed in 1967. He then began flying for the Government Air Services Branch until 1988. Lou loved his flying career and always had so many great stories to tell. Upon retirement Lou and Ann travelled south every year spending their winters in California and Arizona where they made many special friends.
Lou was a member of the Masonic Aviation Lodge No. 175. He was also a member of the Sons of Norway.
Lou will always be remembered by his family and friends for his generous nature, his great sense of humour and his hearty laugh.
A special thank you to Dr. Tynan, Dr. Cattaneo, Respiratory Therapists, and the RIH nurses of ICU and Step Down for their kind and compassionate care during his illness.
At Lou's request there will be no public service.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Cancer Society in Lou's memory.
