Kevin A. Farrell passed away peacefully Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, with his loving family by his side. He had been a resident at Celtic Court, Scotia Lane for the past five weeks.
Dad was born in Bay du Nord, N.L., July 28, 1926, and the eldest child of ‘Teacher’ Tom and Frances (Lundrigan) Farrell.
Surviving are his children, Tom (Nancy), Birch Grove, Ann Marie (Neil) Neville, Sydney, and Jim (Marge), Calgary. Poppy was cherished by his six grandchildren, Alana (Les) Mollon, Jamie and Mark Neville, Denisha, Thomas and Shantelle Farrell; two great-grandchildren, Megan and Matthew Mollon; and also by many nieces and nephews. He is survived by his sisters, Genevieve, Patricia (Pat) Hickey, Alice (late Fred) Hickey; brother, Alphonsus (Viola); and sister-in-law, Teresa Farrell.
Dad was predeceased by his wife, Lillian (Russell), brothers, Pat, Dave and Gerald, and sister, Eileen (late Lawrence Farrell).
Kevin was a devoted member of St. Theresa’s parish. He worked at Sydney Steel Corp in the coke oven department as a foreman until his retirement in 1989.
A very special thank you to all of Dad’s guardian angels from Keltic Court (Scotia Lane) for all your compassion, understanding and respect you showed Dad. He is at peace with the Lord.
Visitation for Dad will take place at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel on today (Monday, Nov. 2) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday, Nov. 3 at 2 p.m. at St. Theresa’s Church with Rev. James Oliver officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
