Gertrude Marie Berger (Nee Gagnon), aged 78 years of Central Butte, Sask. passed away on Wednesday, November 9th, 2011. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 14th, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Central Butte, Sask. Father Louis Nguyen will be presiding celebrant. Gertie grew up in Duck Lake and following school, she went and spent time working in her uncles orchard in B.C. Two years later she moved to southern Saskatchewan where she met and married Ed Berger. Gertie loved baking, cooking, playing cards, bingo and spending time with her grandchildren. As any hockey mom did, she enjoyed going to the rink to watch her sons play and that enthusiasm carried on to her grandsons games. Predeceased by her parents Adgutor and Marie Gagnon; sisters: Emily (Armond) Gobiel, Marie (Etienne) Perret, Simone (Ronald) Dumont, Lucille (Ralph) Paulhus, Elaine (Arthur) Pellerin; brothers: Ovide (Bernice) Gagnon, Arsen Gagnon and brother-in-law John Pellerin. Gertie will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 57 years Ed; children: Brien, Raymond, Keith (Jan) and Mike; grandchildren: Teanna Keeler, Christopher (Kristi) Berger, Orrin, Ethan, Garrison and Devin Berger; great-granddaughter Emily Berger; siblings: Bernice Pellerin and Lucien (Mary) Gagnon as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Gertie may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.
