Michael Malowany, 88, passed away peacefully on Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, at Harbourstone Enhanced Care.
Born in Sydney, N.S., June 15, 1921, he was the son of the late Ivan and Mary Malowany.
Michael worked for many years at the Sydney Steel Plant. He loved working in his garden and sitting on the veranda. Michael was a veteran of the Second World War.
Michael will be deeply missed by his family. Surviving are his daughters, Rose (Larry) Pollock, Saskatchewan, Pat (Barry) Neville, Sydney, Donna MacCormack, Winnipeg, and Anna (James) Shannon, Edmonton. He is also survived by sisters, Nellie (John) Strickey, Indian Brook, Olga Dunphy, Sydney; and grandchildren, Michael, British Columbia, Stephen, Saskatchewan, Denise and Greg, Winnipeg; great-granddaughters, Samantha, Saskatchewan, Ashley and Holly, Winnipeg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Mary (2005), sisters, Stella Bartman, Annie Wolodka, Aggie Kazimer, Stephanie Ojolick, and brothers, Bill and Peter.
Visitation will be held 12-1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3 with Michael’s funeral service held at 1 p.m. at Sydney Memorial Chapel with Rev. Errol MacDonald officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
