The death occurred peacefully at the Summerset Manor, Summerside, on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009, of Francis J. DesRoches of Summerside and formerly of Miscouche, aged 82 years. Francis was born on Oct. 4, 1927 in Miscouche, P.E.I. to his late parents Felix and Eliza (nee Gaudet) DesRoches. Survived by his daughter Julie (Paul) Battistel of Burnaby, B.C., his step-children Louise Cameron and Eddie DesRoches of B.C. and his grandchildren Ryan and Christine Battistel. Also lovingly remembered by his brother Hilary of Miscouche, sisters Rita Arsenault of Miscouche and Eunice DesRoches of Summerside, special friend Kate Bernard of Miscouche and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Francis was predeceased by brothers Wilfred, Henry, Clifford and sisters Lena Thibideau, Marie Gallant, Regina Gallant and Louise Gallant. Resting at East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside, until Tuesday, Nov. 3, then to St. John the Baptist Church, Miscouche, for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Following cremation, interment will take place at a later date in the church cemetery. Memorial donations in Francis's memory to the St. John the Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or the Summerset Manor Equipment Fund would be greatly appreciated.
