Surrounded by her loving family, Agnes Desaulniers passed away peacefully on November 10, 2011 in Kamloops at the awesome age of 99.5 years.
Born Elizabeth Agnes McVay in Winnipeg on April 27, 1912, she moved to Vancouver with her mother Mary-Ann, her WW1 veteran father Joseph and brother Eddie, and her five other siblings Mary, Peggy, Mason, Doris and baby George.
As a young teen, Agnes worked for the department store Woodward family as a nanny, and then for Brown Bros Florist as a bookeeper; she has been a lover of flowers ever since- especially the blue hydrangea.
Agnes met her one and only love Bernard (Bun) and they married in September 1942. They had 4 children: Victor, Joseph, Mary(Lloyd), Paul(Laurie). In 1956, they moved to Lac La Hache and lived there until they retired to Kamloops in 1982.
"Nan" was blessed with 8 amazing grandchildren: Lara(Tim), Treena, Stacey, Adam, Blair(Anita), Luke, Hugh, Joel and 3 beloved great grandchildren: Cade, Cassie and Alex.
Agnes was predeceased by her 2nd born child Joseph, all of her siblings, and her husband Bun.
A special thank you to all the staff at Ridgeview Lodge for looking out for our mom for the last 2 years, especially the last few days of her life. You were amazing.
Agnes was a devout Catholic and member of the Catholic Women's League, and her faith sustained her until her death.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday November 19th at 1PM at the Holy Family Parish, 2797 Sunset Drive, Kamloops. In Lieu of Flowers, Agnes requested donations be made to Development and Peace (devp.org).
