COSTELLO, VIOLET L. - It is with sadness we announce the passing of Violet Leona (Connor) Costello, of the Seacoast Nursing Home, Gloucester, MA., wife of the late Douglas W. Costello (June, 2005), at The Beverly Hospital on Sunday, November 13, 2011. Born in February 1919 in Saint John, NB she was the daughter of the late James and Della (Kierstead) Connor. She is survived by two sons, Douglas (Yvette) Costello of Saint John and Ralph M. Costello of Medfield, Mass; one daughter Marcia Costello-O’Rourke of Rockport, Mass; two sisters Evelyn Keating of Saint John and Faye (Robert) Smith of Ottawa, Ontario; eight grandchildren: Debra (David), Thomas (Sue), David, Marc (Stephanie), Douglas (Christina), Chris, Tanya and Jonathan; nine great-grandchildren: Melissa, Katie, Emma, Spencer, Abigail, Hannah, William, Marc and Luke; sisters-in-law Dolores (James) Murray, Frances Costello; brother-in-law Robert (Eloise) Costello, Archie Flooks. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Douglas Warren Costello, brothers John and Milton Connor and sisters Margaret Flooks and Olive Reed; sisters-in-law Joan Murphy, Ruth Costello, and brothers-in-law Ralph Costello, Laurence Keating, Vernon Reed and Robert Murphy.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, NB. (506-646-2424). A Memorial service was held at the First Baptist Church of Rockport in Rockport, MA. A Memorial service and burial will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, November 19th, 2011 at 11am.Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10am to service time. Interment will be held immediately following at Fernhill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to The Ralph Costello Medical Endowment, (c/o The Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation) or a charity of the donor’s choice.
