It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we the family announce the passing of Wayne Hutchison on Nov. 16, 2011. After a long and courageous fight, Wayne passed away peacefully at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, N.S.
Wayne was born at Baddeck, N.S., July 4, 1947, son of the late Mary (nee Hutchison) and Clifford Anderson.
He was a loving husband, father, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend. He was often referred to as a “true gentleman”.
Wayne was a graduate of Acadia University and Dalhousie Law School Class of ‘74. He resided in North Sydney, but worked in Baddeck for 17 years having his own private law practice. He truly enjoyed this time and the many individuals he met in town on a daily basis. In later years, he went on to work as a crown attorney for the provincial government in Sydney. In both these endeavors, he was fortunate to encounter people who would go on to become lifelong friends. Many of you have shown your support in the last number of weeks and we, the family, are truly appreciative. We know that your visits meant the world to Wayne.
Wayne loved fishing and would gather together with his friends at Inlet Baddeck annually for their “fishing weekend”. He enjoyed travelling, especially to anywhere south. He treasured most, his time spent with family and friends sharing stories and many laughs. Wayne was a member St. Mark’s Masonic Lodge, Baddeck.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife, Dr. Mary Hutchison (nee Golding); and his son, David. He is also survived by brothers, Donnie Anderson (Heather), Baddeck, Dr. Charlie Anderson (Donna), Halifax; sister, Dr. Shelly Anderson (Stuart), Sydney; and brother-in-law, Peter Golding, St. John’s, N.L. Wayne is also survived by nephews, Kristopher and Cameron; and niece, Jennifer.
Wayne was predeceased by his daughter, Jane, mother, Mary and father, Clifford.
A visitation for family and friends will be held 7-9 p.m. Thursday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A memorial service to celebrate Wayne’s life will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Matthew Wesley United Church, North Sydney. Cremation has taken place and private family interment will be held in Baddeck at a later date.
Family flowers only, memorial donations may be made in Wayne’s memory to Cape Breton Regional Hospital ICU or Nova Scotia Kidney Foundation.
