Mary Jane (nee McGrath) D'Eon

Passed peacefully away on November 11, 2011, at the Halifax Infirmary QEII Site, in the presence of her loving family. Born in Colliers, NL, she was the daughter of Patrick and Mary (Cole) McGrath. A former religious Sister of Mercy, she was a teacher in Newfoundland and Nova Scotia, and a Guidance Counselor at C.P. Allen High School, Bedford, NS. After retirement, she returned to St. John’s and volunteered as a guidance counselor at St. Bonaventure’s College. She returned to Halifax in 2008 to be closer to her sisters. She is survived by sisters Anna Davies, Kingston, ON, Joan Dunbar, Carole Ann (Ian) Rankin, Patricia (Walter) Power and Carmel McGrath, all of Halifax and brother James A. McGrath, St. John’s. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Ron D’Eon. Mass of Christian Burial has already taken place in Halifax. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Pius X Church on Saturday, November 19th, at 11 a.m. followed by interment at the Field of Honor, St. John’s. No flowers by request.
