Murray Ivan Lantz - 88, of Coldbrook. With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved father, Murray on Sunday, November 13, 2011 in the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Infirmary Site, Halifax, surrounded by his children. Born in Port Williams, he was the son of the late Ivan and Elma (Cleveland) Lantz. He was a veteran of the Second World War. Murray was a very active man in every sense with an optimistic attitude. He was a faithful member of the Coldbrook Baptist Church. He was always on the go, taking daily walks, attending church suppers and local musical concerts. Following retirement from the military in 1973, after 27 years of service, he also worked at Weavexx, White Spot Restaurant and H. H. Pulsifer Ltd. Over the years he enjoyed travelling which included visits to Germany, Barbados, England and across Canada. Left behind to mourn are: George (Esther) Lantz, Kentville; Donald (Brenda) Lantz, Bridgewater; Shealeigh (Jim) Turkington, Edmonton, Alberta; Susan (Allen) Magee, Belleville, Ontario; Sandra (Peter Gourley), Kentville; Heather (Brian) Adams, Kentville; Catherine Lantz, Coldbrook; sister, Audrey Forsythe, Dartmouth; grandchildren, Corey Friesen and Kristi (Shayne) MacKenzie, Tim and Kim Lantz, Terry, Crystal (Justin Hinze) and Stephany Magee, Anthony Lantz; great grandchildren, Griffin and Logynn MacKenzie; very special friend, Carol Hall; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Phyllis (Pulsifer) Lantz; grandson, Randy Magee, in infancy; brother, George Lantz, lost overseas; sister, Frances (Newcombe) Lavery. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, November 18, 2011 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 19, 2011, Reverend Wayne Merrill officiating. A private family burial took place in the Willowbank Cemetery, Wolfville. Family flowers only, by request. A special thanks to the caring and compassionate staff of the 5.1 CVICU at the Halifax Infirmary for their support during Murray’s illness. Also a very special thank you to Pam and Jo.
