COLPITTS, LOUIS “LOU” WALTON - Louis “Lou” Walton Colpitts, 88, of Moncton, and formerly of Salisbury, passed away at the Moncton Hospital on November 17, 2011. Born in Salisbury, he was a son of the late Edward Walton and Clara Pearl (nee Rogers) Colpitts. Lou worked in the Signal Corps in the Canadian Army, and as a Radio Technician with the Ministry of Transportation. He was a veteran of WWII, serving overseas with the First Division in Italy, France, Germany, and England. He was a member of the Salisbury United Church, the Lay Ministers Fellowship, the Rail City Chorus, and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 31. Lou is survived by his wife, L. Maude (nee Bannister) Fawcett-Colpitts; his daughter, Esther Colpitts of Shawville, Quebec; his son, Roger (June) of Winnipeg; his brothers: Gordon “Doc”(Evelyn) of Salisbury, and Eugene “Jamie” (Edris) of Moncton; his grandchildren: Terry Moquin, Richard (Joy) Moquin, Barry (Elona) Colpitts, Troy Colpitts, and Shawn Colpitts; several great-grandchildren; step-sons: Mel Fawcett of Saint John, David Fawcett (Sharon Beers) of The Glades, and Bart Fawcett (Joy) of Second North River; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Lou was predeceased by his first wife, Marie Jeanne Vienneau; his sons, James and Mark; grandson, Glen Moquin; sisters: Eva Pollock, Iva Reid, Dora Thorne, and Greta Hope; and brother, William “Bill” Colpitts.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 20, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm; the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 31 will be holding a tribute service on Sunday at 6:45 pm; the funeral service will be held on Monday, November 21, 2011 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Dan Compton presiding, all in Armstrong’s Funeral Home, 33 Russell Street, Petitcodiac. Donations to the Salisbury United Church or the Alzheimers Society would be appreciated by the family.
