Gregor Carlson, age 94, of Glace Bay, N.S., died peacefully at Arborstone Enhanced Care facility on Oct. 27, 2009.
Gregor worked as a welder for many years. Throughout his lifetime, he also enjoyed swordfishing, swimming, skating and playing card games with his friends and family. Gregor maintained an active healthy lifestyle well into his 90s.
Gregor was preceeded in death by his mother, Flora Bell (MacGuire) Carlson, father, Albert Carlson, two sisters, Margaret Carlson and Mabel Rowley and two brothers, Edward Carlson and Duncan Carlson.
He was a member of Epworth United Church in Glace Bay, N.S.
Prior to cremation, a private prayer service was conducted by Rev. Jeanne Manning-Stright of St. Paul’s United Church, Halifax, N.S., at J. Albert Walker Funeral Home Chapel, Halifax, N.S.
There will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, at Greenwood Cemetery in Glace Bay, N.S., Rev. J. Finlayson of Knox United Church, Glace Bay, will be officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to the N.S. Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice.
