We the family of the late Deborah Marie ‘Debbie’ Nearing regret to announce her passing Nov. 17, 2011, after a short, courageous battle with cancer.
She passed away at the Grande Cache Health Complex, Grande Cache, Alta. surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Debbie was the daughter of the late Michael and Margaret (Heffernan) MacNeil of Glace Bay, N.S.
She is survived by her husband, Lawrence; sons, Lawrence (Natalie) and Neal (Tracy), all of Grande Cache; and daughter, Cheryl (Warrick) Button, Glace Bay; and her most precious gifts, Caleigh, Lawrence Michael, Ethan Lucas and step-granddaughter, Sasha Button. Also surviving are her sister, Joanne (Joseph) Ogley, Glace Bay; brother, Michael (Pam) MacNeil, Grande Cache; stepbrother, Bruce (Theresa) Addicott, Petawawa, Ont.; mother-in-law, Audley Nearing; sister-in-law, Darlene; brothers-in-law, Fabian (Joan), Danny, Brian (Cindy), Michael; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her stepmother, Edith (Addicott) MacNeil and father-in-law, Lawrence Nearing Sr.
Cremation has taken place and a ‘Celebration’ of Debbie’s life will take place at the Royal Canadian Legion in Grande Cache, Alta., on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011, at 2 p.m. Burial will take place at a later date.
In lieu of other tributes, the family suggests donations be directed to the Canadian Cancer Society, 200, 325 Manning Rd., NE, Calgary, Alta., T2E 2P5, or to the Alberta Lung Association, P.O. Box 4500, Station South, Edmonton, Alta., T6A 6K2 in memory of Debbie Nearing.
