It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our brother, Michael William ‘Cow’ Lasovski, on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009, at his residence.
Born in New Waterford, March 2, 1959, Michael was the son of the late John Albert and Annie (Griffin) Lasovski, and was a member of Mount Carmel Church.
Michael worked various jobs, starting at a young age at his parents local confectionery store, known as Annie’s Dairy on King Street, New Waterford, where he would later become the store owner. He moved on to become a certified dockside observer with Department of Fisheries and Oceans, Canada and a certified weighmaster on fishing boats in Point Edward. More recently, Michael was employed at the Total Recycling Depot in Sydney.
Cow was a member of the New Waterford Fish and Game Association and enjoyed fishing in unique spots throughout Cape Breton. He especially liked his Coca-Cola and also enjoyed photography, music and his cats. Cow was a collector of numerous things, namely, coins, pins and various types of music.
Surviving are his two sisters, Mary (Donald) MacPherson, Sydney Forks, and Anne (Danny McPhee) Lasovski, Brechin, Ont.; one nephew, Sandy MacPherson, Dartmouth.
Besides his parents, Michael was predeceased by brothers, Joseph and Francis and a sister, Anne Marie, in infancy.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral service will be held Friday, Nov. 6 at 2 p.m. in the Parish Church of Saint Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with burial to follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at the KOC Hall, New Waterford.
