ANNE OBERDERFER (MORHART)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and great-great-great-grandmother on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at the age of 101 years with family by her side. She has gone to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Born May 5, 1910 in the Bayard District to John and Regina Morhart. Anne and her husband Frank Morhart were a Pioneer family who homesteaded in the Spring Valley area where they raised nine children. After Frank’s passing, Anne farmed on her own with help from her family until she married Emmanuel Oberderfer. Together they farmed until they moved to Moose Jaw. She was an excellent cook and baker, enjoyed visiting with family and friends, gardening, doing crafts and traveling when she had the opportunity. She resided here in her own home until at which time she moved to Temple Towers. In April 2008 Anne moved to Extendicare. Anne is predeceased by husbands Frank Morhart and Emmanuel Oberderfer, twin sons: Zack and Frank Morhart, daughters: Rosie Messner and Marie Williams; sons-in-law: Jacob Messner and Robert Tarr; daughters-in-law: June Morhart and Adeline Ching; grandchildren: Sharon Tress and David Tarr; siblings: Katherine Beitel, Mary Dulik, Caroline (in infancy), Rudolph, John, William, Theresa Beitel and Caroline Morhart; brothers-in-law: Albert Beitel (Katherine), Martin Dulik, Albert Beitel (Theresa) and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Morhart. Anne is survived by her children: Regina (Frank) Tress, Siegmund Morhart, Anton (Mary) Morhart, John (Muriel) Morhart and Anne Tarr, son-in-law Daryl Williams and daughter-in-law, Eleanor Morhart; 41 grandchildren, 113 great-grandchildren, 55 great-great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-great-granddaughter; sisters-in-law: Mary Morhart and Emma Morhart and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 1064 3rd Ave. N.W., Moose Jaw. Father Louis Kim Nguyen will preside. Interment will take place at Rosedale Cemetery. Evening Prayers will be held Friday evening (Nov. 25) at 7p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Extendicare Family Support Group, 1151 Coteau St. W., Moose Jaw, S6H 5G5 or to the Canadian Cancer Society, 61B Ross St. W., Moose Jaw, S6H 2M2. The family would like to thank all the staff at Extendicare for their kind and compassionate care given to our Mother during her stay there. We will be eternally grateful to you all.
