HENRY – Donald “Duncan†Douglas
June 4, 1934 – November 2, 2009
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Donald ‘Duncan’ Douglas Henry on November 2nd, 2009 to his long battle with ALS at Prince Albert Victoria Hospital. Donald was born in Fish Creek, SK on June 4th, 1934 to Norbert and Georgina Henry. Donald is survived by his wife Theresa, three children, ten grandchildren, and one great-grandchild: Larry (Rhonda) and children Robert ‘Bobby’ (Julie) and child Brielle, Brett (Brianne), Ryan (Stephanie), Kadin, Kaci; Gerald (Michelle) and children Alynne, Jocelyn, Evan, Erica; Leanne and Logan; and his sister Mary (Hesedorfer), as well as his many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Benjamin, Thomas, Ernest, Marcel, Arthur, and Kenneth; his sisters Rose Vandale, Irene Vandale, Laura Delorme, Margaret Fiddler and special sister-in-law Lila Henry. Donald married Theresa on October 26, 1957 at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Donald had spent 41 years working with the city of Prince Albert until his retirement in 1993. Donald’s many passions included spending time with his children and grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family, summers at the family cabin at Emma Lake, coffee row at A&W, and Monday afternoon bingo. Donald was active in the Prince Albert fastball leagues as a player, manager, coach, and volunteer. He was also a familiar face at the numerous hockey rinks across the city, supporting his grandchildren. Donald also spent a great deal of his time volunteering for Metis Local #269 as well as the Prince Albert Midget AAA Mintos at the Ice Mania Tournament. Donald will be sadly missed by all those he touched with his warm smile and great sense of humour. A Graveside Memorial Service will be held for Donald on Friday November 6th at the South Hill Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Father Maurice Fiolleau officiating, with a lunch to be served afterwards at Parkland Community Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Prince Albert Midget AAA Mintos or the Prince Albert Victoria Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray's Funeral Chapel, Lorne Adams, Funeral Director.
