Aged 80, of Springhill, passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2009. Born in Springhill, he was a son of the late Edward and Rhoda (Boss) Spence. Ed served in the Canadian Armed Forces (Army) from 1952 until retiring in 1975. During that time he served overseas in Korea, Egypt, and Cyprus. He loved spending time at his cottage with family. Ed loved keeping in touch with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ed is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Mary (Geddes); children, Sandie (Martha), and Bryan (Karla), both of Barrie, Ont.; Wendy (Darryl), Angus, Ont.; Darrell (Anita), Calgary; grandchildren, David, Lindsy, Carrie, Amanda, Jeff, Cheri, Tina and Julie; great-grandchildren, Cameron, Phillip, Alexis and Lincoln; brother, Wayne (Florence), Springhill; sisters, Gloria (Bud) Anderson, Carol Lockhart, Sheila (Caleb) Woods, all of Springhill; Brenda (Bill) Ramsey, Berwick; Beverly (Ron) Colbourne, Pembroke, Ont.; brother-in-law, Herb Pepperdine. He was predeceased by sister, Dorothy Pepperdine, and brother-in-law, Lorne Lockhart. Cremation has taken place under the direction of MacDiarmid's Funeral Home, Oxford (447-2930).
