Sherman Gordon Stockley, 79, Richmond Villa, St. Peter’s, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2009, with all of his family by his side.
He was born in Ingonish, Victoria County, on May 26, 1930. He was the son of the late William and Margaret Stockley.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian Stockley, St. Peter’s; children, Gilbert Stockley (Diane), Ontario, Janet Stockley (Wayne Rennie), West Bay Road, Mona Stockley, Dartmouth, Evelyn Thompson (Jodie), Frenchvale, Marilyn Stockley, Glace Bay, John Stockley (Courtney Sampson), Grand Greve; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a brother, Wendell Stockley, Sydney.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Lillian MacRae, Willena Pierre; brothers, Charlie Stockley and Willard Stockley.
He was a long time member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 47, Grand Anse.
Thank you to the doctors and nurses who helped with our father. Very special thank you to the staff of the Richmond Villa.
Visitation will be held Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009 from 2-9 p.m. at the Alex Morrison Funeral Home, St. Peter’s. Funeral service will be held on Monday, Nov. 9, 2009, at 2 p.m. at the United Church in St. Peter’s with Lynn McKinnon officiating.
Funeral is under the direction of the Alex Morrison Funeral Home, St. Peter’s.
