It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Catherine ‘Kay’ MacDonald, 62, of Glace Bay. Kay passed away Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, at Harbourstone Enhanced Care, Sydney.
Born in Glace Bay, Kay was the daughter of the late Big Duncan Eddie and Margaret Isabelle (Fraser) MacDonald, formerly of Inverness County.
Kay loved to spend time with her family and will be missed by all. She was an avid bingo player.
She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Kari (Troy) Smith, Birch Grove; son, George Mills, Glace Bay; sisters, Ann White, Boston, Susie Parsons, Glace Bay, Mary Daly, Alberta; grandchildren, Katherine Ann ‘Katie’ Mills; and step-granddaughter, Rebecca Smith; companion, David Gillis. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Kay was predeceased by brothers, Donnie and Eddie, grandson, Nathan, in infancy.
Visitation for Kay MacDonald will be held Monday, Nov. 9, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10 at St. Anthony’s Church, Glace Bay, with Fr. Leo Boone officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
