Meryl Ross Whalley died peacefully at home surrounded by family on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011.
Born in Sydney, July 16,1925, she was the daughter of the late Hon. Malcolm and Ella (Ross) Patterson.
Meryl spent her life devoted to her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Her childhood passions of dancing and horseback riding provided many wonderful memories and stories throughout her life. She enjoyed her many hours spent fishing and travelling throughout Cape Breton — especially in Margaree and Lake Ainslie with Michael and family. She will be greatly missed.
Meryl was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Michael and by her brother, Alexander.
She is survived by her children, Anne (Bruce) Reardon, Clement, Patricia (Eric) Ferguson and John. She is also survived by three grandchildren, David, Jane and Michael Ferguson.
There will be no visitation at Meryl’s request. A graveside service will be held at a later date.
