Lane, Helen Patricia – 72, Debert. It comes with great sadness the passing of our mother, grandmother and great grandmother on Friday, November 25, 2011 at Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Margarite (Isnor-Smith) Baker. Helen lived her life to the fullest. She taught Sunday School and the Youth Group in Londonderry Station United Church for many years. She also organized the first Terry Fox Run and ball tournament in Londonderry. She loved being with her family and friends and traveling. She was active in the senior’s games and loved bowling, playing Skip-Bo and Dice. She loved Cat Country radio and Blue Jay’s baseball games. She is survived by her daughters, Florence (Kevin) Dobson, Londonderry, Tina (Kurt) Gratto, Masstown, Karen Lane (Greg Walters), Yarmouth, Judy Elliott (Greg Greenwood), Brookfield, Linda Lane, Debert; son, Richard, Truro; grandchildren, Vicki, Dustin, Jamie, Alec, Jeffrey, Karla, Shannon, Jordan, Hannah and Chloe; 8 great grandchildren, all with a special place in her heart; sisters, Marilyn Goucher, Spryfield, Kaye Vaughan, B.C., Joan Moulton, Spryfield, Barbara Oakly, Porters Lake; brother, Russell Baker, Halifax; sisters-in-law, Marjorie Hayward, Georgie Rushton, Beulah Trask; brother-in-law, Cliff Lane; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Keith “Alby” Aubrey Lane; mother-in-law, Alberta Lane (Mom); sister and brother-in-law, Blanche (Cliff) Roache, sisters, Lillian Mikkelson, Edith LeBlanc; brother, Robert Baker. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 28 from 7-9 p.m. with funeral service on Tuesday, November 29 at 1 p.m., both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro with Pastor Bill Martin officiating. Interment in Mahon Cemetery, Great Village. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the V.O.N., Debert Fire Department or Debert Baptist Church.
