Gilbert Benjamin "Gil" DesRoches - 72, Truro, passed away Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008, surrounded by loving members of his family in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Summerside, P.E.I., he was a son of the late Joseph and Isabelle (Arsenault) DesRoches. Gil enjoyed working with horses and was employed with Mr. George Callbeck in Summerside in the1950s. He worked for Irving Oil and Schurman Windows in Summerside, for a number of years. Gil was employed with Kohler Windows and Doors, Debert, until his retirement. He enjoyed bowling on the Truro Seniors Bowling league and was a fan of the Toronto Blue Jays. Surviving are his wife, Janet (MacInnis) of 51 years; daughter, Ann (Darrell) Clyke, Truro; sons, Alan (Arlene), Hampton, N.B., Andy (Rebecca), Nairobi, Kenya, Africa; grandchildren, Jason DesRoches and Caleb Clyke; Emily, Olivia and Jonathan DesRoches; Samuel and Davita DesRoches; several nieces and nephews. Gil was predeceased by son, Daniel Edward DesRoches; sister, Eliza and brother, Ronald; Visitation will be held 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro. Memorial Service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday Dec. 3, in Immanuel Baptist Church, 295 Young St., Truro, Rev. Kaj Binderup officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Lower Onslow Clarke Cemetery. A reception will be held following the service in the church. Family flowers only please.
