Age 89, was welcomed into eternal life on November 2, 2009 and reunited with Phillip, her husband and soulmate of 52 years. Also waiting to welcome her home are her brothers: Eric (Irene), Jimmy and Robert; brothers-in-law: Ambrose (Mildred), Peter, Jim and Allan; sisters-in-law: Dot and Josephine (Eddie). Holding Betty in their hearts with fond loving memory are her son Wayne (Judy); grandsons: Allan and Jimmy; her brother Fred (Grace); sisters-in-law: Peggy, Janette, Gabrielle, Mary (Jim), Florence and Donna (Dave); a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and close friends. Betty was born in Wales on July 5, 1920 and became a war bride in 1947 when she married Phillip Norris of Witless Bay, Newfoundland. They raised their son in Newport, Wales and when Phil retired made Witless Bay their home where the people embraced and loved Betty. She will be forever remembered as having enjoyed a good laugh and was always pleased when she got a ‘finish’ at darts. Wayne and his family extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Rod McCarthy and the doctors, nurses and staff of St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital for their care and devotion. A very special thank you to Quality Home Care Service especially caregivers Marion Carew, Meghan Cahill, Wanda White and Alice Tobin. A service will be held at the Recreation Building in Witless Bay on Sunday, November 8, 2009 at 2 p.m. followed by internment at Holy Cross Cemetery. A reception at the Recreation Building will follow. Donations may be made in her memory to the Bay Bulls War Memorial Committee, P.O. Box 86, Bay Bulls, NL A0A 1C0.
